English for Nurses

English for Nurses courses at Polword are specifically designed to enhance communication skills and equip foreign nurses, preparing for their NMC exams, with specialist English language knowledge of the healthcare environment.

The whole courses consists of two parts:

A - 1st part: May/June

B - 2nd part: July/August or September/Octovber 

The aim of the course is to enable you to work more confidently in the U.K. healthcare sector and provide experience in day-to-day nursing activities such as patient registration, patient handover, post-operation assessment and many more.

Program
 
The program of the course (two parts) includes mastering specific medical vocabulary, familiarizing students with the organization of work in British hospitals and learning how to react in typical everyday situations, such as: filing medical records, conducting interviews with patients, members of their families and medical staff, phoning in business matters, knowledge of diseases, medicines, vaccinations etc.
 
The didactic material is divided into topics - 11 blocks
 
Course length:
 
Each course consists of 8 class sessions (8 weeks / 24 hours). Classes are held on Saturdays. The more intensive courses take place on Saturdays and Sundays after three hours.
 
Learning materials:
 
These courses are based on the popular series of textbooks: 'Oxford English for Careers: Nursing' (1 & 2), Oxford University Press.
